Hey everyone,

I'm looking for an ATA PCMCIA or CompactFlash reader (instead of using an apple-installed zip drive, I'm hoping there's an ATA mac os x compatible reader available)

one reason why I want this is beacause i have way too many USB devices

and another reason is because I hate that there is a space for SOMETHING underneath my DVD-R and nothing is using that space.

I plan on either ordering a replacement opening flap like the DVD-R has, or making my own hinged of the existing flap.

anyone know of any ATA (internal) readers avaible?

thanks,

Jason

i need to clarify... the reader needs to use an IDE interface.... (like ATA-66 or 100) I don't know if it would slow down the bus speed if I had it hooked to one of the 40 pin cables with a hard drive or not, I'll probably be safe hooking it to the cable the DVD-R resides on.

thanks... here's what I've found on the net
http://www.c1tech.com.tw/f-2.htm
but it's a taiwan site, if anyone knows where I can buy this model, let me know please... it'll probably work with X

i've seen some that are hot-swapable... but get this... I also saw one that said something about bios compatiblity with atapi zip100.... well that probably says it all right there...

this is a different one, but I think it'll work,

I'll be doing some paint, and since I have a milling machine, I'm going to try to make this mod look as if it came from the factory.

This is a great mod idea. Please let us know how it goes. I would especially be curious how it works with 10.2 and Image Capture/iPhoto. Thanks!
