So the fan in my PowerSupply kept rattling. When it would rattle, it would spin very slow. Meaning it would not move alot of air. Oh by the way its a Dual 533 Ge PowerMac.. anyway... So whenever this would happen (ok that THAT often) either the computer, or the powersupply would overheat. I don't know which it was but either way the computer wouldn't wake from sleep. So sick of this today i tore the PowerSupply out of my Mac (which took forever after the mother of all Mods, putting two Optical drives in my tower, one in the ZIP bay) and brought it to COMPUSA (the only place I could find open) . I matched up a fan of the same size, but it was a 3 pin fan not a two pin. Another thing that alarmed be was the fact that it said .11A on it, where as the old one said .3A (gulp) well I have no choice left so I put it in anyway. Its exta wire was a yellow one, which the original fan didn't have, so I plugged it in with the extra hole in the conenctor hanging off. So I put it all back together, which was extremely difficult, but everyting seems to be working fine now. And it feels like its moving the same amount of air. I hope everything will be alright.

Hi,
I'd not worry much about the small difference in Amperage between the two fans. I'd certainly look at the CFM (airflow) rating for each fan though.
The third wire was probably used to throttle down the RPMs when the temp did not warrant full throttle. It's a sensing option on some cooling systems.
You really need to use a fan of similar airflow rating when making a replacement like that.
Use Google to search on the part numbers/manufacturers. If the new fan does not push enough air, you could damage or ruin the PS.
My GF's PS went and fried the HD and the mobo.
YMMV

it moves 33 CFM, that feels like as much, if not a little more than teh factory one. Everything is still fine so I'm sure i'll be alright now. Wasn't that tough a fix either, just getting the PS out after all my other mods was what was so difficult.
