My pismo has returned from repair with a new 20GB hard disk. They're also going to send me back the old disk, so I can copy stuff over (they made a right mess of it and didn't copy half of my stuff, so I complained).

Thing is, after the copy I'll have a spare 20GB laptop-size hard disk. Since I don't have another computer, there's no home for it anywhere. So I wondered if I could mount it in the place where the DVD drive goes and use 2 at once?

Are there 2 IDE connectors on the motherboard? Or can a special cable be purchased to use the two drives on one connector? What about power?

Finally, does MacOS X support RAID level 0?

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

This isn't really a "mod" you just have to get an expansion bay hard drive enclosure and put the drive in it. I used two drives in my Pismo for quite a while.

Yeah but it's not quite a mobile solution. If only there were a way to have two internal HDs.

Oh, and for a neat Pismo hack check out:

Sure, you can buy an expansion bay hard drive for the second bay, or buy a PC card hard drive for the PCMCIA slot. I grabbed a 10gb Toshiba Datapak drive last month and leave it in 24x7 (same drive as the iPod uses).

I have a 30gb internal
a 20gb Expansion bay
10 gb PC card drive for a total of 60 the hard way
