Hello all,

I am just wondering if it's possible to replace the fan in my rev. A tibook with a more quiet fan.

I am not sure if it's possible, anyone care to comment?

Cheers,

It appears to be possible, but the thing is, that fan is designed to spin fast because it needs to, not because it can. If you put in a lower-RPM fan, you run the risk of overheating.

Anywho, it looks like you can do it just by prying out the fan and slapping in a new one. Allears as if it's a 30 mm fan, but it has a custom connector, so you'll have to A) hax0r the connection from the old fan onto the new fan lead or B) find a compatible fan.

---EDIT---
/me slaps himself with some grammar

I know it would be possible to do so, but can anyone recommend a supplier to get a fan that small with the same RPM to get a higher or equivalent CFM.

Cheers,

Higher RPM almost always means louder. You know, you could always solder some resistors onto your fan if you're up to it.

Maybe even put a little potentiometer in there and drill a little hole so you can change the speed of the fan with a small screwdriver to suit the needs of your PB at certain times.
