Do the same rules apply to the 466 and 533? The link goes to a page describing how to OC the 667 and 733, but I thought they were different processors...so maybe different mobos too?

You're right, there are differences between the 466/533 and the 667/733 series...
I still couldn't find a page describing the process for my model.

Well, if you find anything trundle on back here and lemme know - I wouldn't mind playing around with that myself now that my 466is getting a little long in the tooth Thinking of upgrading the processor this summer - but doubt I could afford it.

Mine is now more than 2 years old, so i'm feeling the same way you do, if anything goes wrong, i'll have a good reason to buy a new one (damn materialist i am)
This was one of the last G4 built before X came out, and it is sometimes too slow for me with 784Mb memory.
I will come back and post the link if i can find any useful info.

Dang, I have been checking this thread to see if anyone has posted a solution yet. My 466DA is crying to be OC'ed! Hopefully, with this post putting the thread back on the top of list, somebody with the know-how will post some useful instructions/links.
Of course, I don't know, maybe the process for the 466 is the same as for the 533. It would be nice if someone could clarify. Thanks!

Ok, i finally did it yesterday! I have set my 466 to 533, hadn't the guts to push it to 600.
i have checked the temperature since and it never rose above 28 degrees even with itunes visuals on and photoshop filters going. It feels faster and in fact really is, about 10 to 15 percent faster startup uf "classic".

here you will find how to do it. i tried by myself but soldering with a magnifier is not my specialty so i had it done. unfortunately this page is in french, if you have any questions, ask me!

Have been contemplating doing the same to my G4/450 for about 6 months now, though the concept of soldering small resistors sounds quite tricky.
I heard that that was not the end of it too, and u prob dont want me telling u this now (only signed up to this forum today so couldnt have posted before). I heard that OSX checks the clock multipliers on install, and this kinda put me off even looking into doing it. I dont wanna be in the position of having to resolder resistors if the OS messes up.
Maybe this isnt true, since the only people who know are those who've done the mod.
Like yours my G4 is screaming to be clocked - it runs at 28C most of the time, have seen it drop to 18C when it's cold and rise to 44C when it's running seti and the heating's on full (40C under full load usually). Doesnt have any fans inside so there's scope there to crank it up

yes, it definitely is!
I heard that OSX checks the clock multipliers on install..
never heard of that, until now everything worked fine.

I took out the plates at the bottom (where you normally would screw the hds upon) and the metal thing on the front where there would be the zip drive. I did this so the air can enter everywhere. The temp never rose above 30 degrees.

It was on some obscure website that i saw the thing about OSX installs which i cant find anymore, if it's not well known then maybe it's just a rumour.
If i do get round to trying the upgrade, would prob need to get some practise soldering small resistors beforehand and the best guide i found for mine was:
G4 Tuning
Helpfully in both German and English!
In the meantime am gonna occupy myself with my current challenge starting next month: moving it into a ATX case, which is gonna be fun. Bought a quicker CD burner and want it internal so it's the easiest option.
I did like the moving stuff round in the case to keep the temp down, i had thought of putting a fan in there to keep the temp a bit more constant.
