hello,

does anyone know how to convert a standard atx powersupply to be used for a gigabit g4 logic board?

I know the gigabit board has the 22 pin power supply connectors but I can't find any instructions on how to convert it.

i'm not an electrical engineer, just want to save some $$. the g4 gigabit powersupplys are expensive. even on ebay they're going for $100 +.

thanks,

takayuki

Check out info at

There are articles there if you search for them...

Good luck!

The problem with using an ATX supply with a gigabit g4 motherboard is this:

The ATX supply puts out 12V maximum. The ADC of the gigabit ethernet mobo uses twice that. The ATX just can't supply it. So you have a choice- don't use the ADC connector and use the ATX, or ebay for the correct power supply.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

takayuki did you find out any info on how to do this yet? I noticed that at xlr8yourmac.com they were using the original power supply in an ATX case, I can't find anywhere that tells how to modify a ATX ps for this

it's on the second page of the article:
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/A...e_pg2.htm#next

but heed vmarks warning if you are putting an ATX supply into a gigabit...
