Ok guys, I'm new to these boards, but have been hanging out in the chat room for the past few months.
If you know me from the chat room, you know I am in love with my ibook. SO heres what i want to do, with a bit of advice from people here. I want to buy an extra internal keyboard for the ibook, and modify it to light up from the inside, glowing through the transparent keys. I have electrical skills, im currently just wondering where i would find a place to get electricity inside the ibook, and what voltage the electricity is. After that i will worry about the type of LED, going on ones that will work with whatever voltage we can find in the ibook.

the link i put up doesnt work for some reason dunno y

try either of these:
1: search for "keyboard" it is the one entitled backlit Ibook keyboard
or
2:http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...light=keyboard

try lookin at the blue one even though the instructions are in japenese (i think it may be the same as the white mod) it looks way cooler so i reakon it can be done in any colour?

Go to the guy's main index page. That way you can access pics of both his "White Light" and "Blue Light" iBook mods.

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.

ok guys, thanks for the responces. I've been studying this dude's page, and see that he has it taking power from the display. This seems a bit odd to me when you should be able to get power from they keyboard (since the numlock and caplock keys have lights in them) What if i was to intercept the power coming into the keyboard, rather than risk destroying the display? Where on the keyboard would this power be accessable?

display seems sensible to me esp if you want the keyboard dimmable. I would imagine there also less chance of placing too much demand n the system that way rather than the number / caps lock.

I would suggest doing as much reseach esp about ohms resistance etc before you start. Your ibook wont forgive any mistakes and replacement parts may be hard to find.

How about getting power from a USB port? I always thought that was the easiest power source to tap.
