256 for $19.99 and 512 for $34.99 after rebates. The brand is Centon. Anybody know anything about them? Almost too good to pass up. Sale ends Saturday.

I have centon RAM in my iBook, seems to work fine. My computer's only gotten faster since I put it in, so I guess that's a good thing :-)

Well, the Centon memory is installed and I was able to boot up with no problem - but...

Even About this Mac recognizes the module. And, no unusual behavior, although admittedly it's only been a half hour or so.

Problem is with the Hardware Test. I get an Error Code 2MLB/10/4;166, and Apple claims never to have seen this before. They suggested I download the updated Service Diagnostic and burn a copy and test the system with that. Unfortunately the GSX site is down for service...

Looks to me I'm getting what I paid for, doesn't it?

To be continued...

...Couldn't sign into Apple. Need some sort of service id. Mouse wouldn't register and disk Utility would quit regularly. Thank goodness for DiskWarrior! Screw it. Back to C City it goes tomorrow.

Lesson learned.

Hah, thanks for the story. Every time I see a deal like this, I think three times and do research online. Gotten burned in the past.
