If you've seen any of Apple's service manuals, they use a non-conductive black stick for taking apart their computers. I've never seen a tool like this and I can't seem to find one at electronics stores.
Does anyone know of a source for these tools?

The plastic tools I've seen generally aren't strong enough, and the other ESD tools have metal tips, which tend to dent the plastic.
I can't believe Apple's tools are unique.

Why? Aren't their entire line of computers unique?

I suppose I opened myself up to all of your answers. There are lots of different tools that work, but I haven't really found a good tool for opening my iBook cases. Soft plastic bends, the hard plastic I've found breaks, wood splinters, and metal dents the plastic. Apple's manual shows a solid nylon stick with one flat end like a screwdriver that is strong enough to force open the plasic case latches. I just wondered if anyone really did know of a good source or substitute.

You could go to an authorized Apple service centre and ask them to order you some as the appropriate service part. You get about 6 in a packet I think...

As I said, I found a source for some of these and bought a fairly large quantity. If you'd like to buy some I'll send them to you for $3 each plus $.50 shipping. Email me at chabig@mac.com if you're interested.
