My friend told me about a crack that alows me to play music while the powerbook is actually closed and in sleep mode.. does anyone know of such a crack and if so do you know where to get it from..

Also someone told me that doing that would be a bad idea and cause to powerbook to over heat

My reason for doing so is to play MP3's in my car and not waste the battery on the display or have a unusual shaped computer moving around.. i dont want to break off my screen.

There is no way to play MP3s while your computer is in sleep mode. Get an iPod or another portable music player if you would like to have music on the go.

When a computer is in deep sleep mode there's no way it can play songs. There is only enough power to save the contents of your RAM and to keep other components barely running. If there is full power going to your processor and your hard disk is still spinning, how could your PowerBook really be in sleep mode? I can only guess that what the crack does is prevent your PB from sleeping when the lid is closed.

Insomnia, done by the same folks who make KisMac. It lets you close your laptop without going into sleep mode, the screen still shuts off but thats about it. Its easy enough to install too you dont need to know much about the terminal, just follow directions. There is also a loader out there for insomnia wich makes it a lot easier

The Alu PowerBooks are designed to run with the lid closed. You normally need an external keyboard and screen though.

A sleeping Mac only uses power to its RAM, in order to preserve its current state. Everything else is basically switched off. So a sleeping Mac definitely cannot play music, nor can it overheat.
