Help!! - im trying to find out how to add a second optical drive to a g4-400. I have bought a pioneer dvr-106 to replace my original dvd-rom, and want the dvd-rom to replace the zip....

Has anybody done this, is it possible for intructions to be posted??

Thanks very much in advance - hope that someone can help.....

If I am not mistaken - the way the brackets are designed on the G4/400 - you will not be able to replace the Zip drive with a standard 5" drive - like a DVD-ROM, RAM, etc. I have read about people physically altering the brackets - but that requires some major surgery. You would be better off to get an inexpensive Firewaire enclosure - I have seen them lately as low as $30.

considered similar thing with my sawtooth too... alas, I've no zip-bay anymore, had to tear the riveting off to fit a gigadesigns upg there...them caps are big...

I know the heat sink is no issue with the 133 MHz bus machines, but with the dual 450's and dual 500's (Not Zif's) I think you need to modify your heat sink, which isn't all that hard, but there will be less of it when you're done so make sure you take that into consideration.
