for space saving reasons and just for coolness i'm trying to mount my G4 powermac on my equipment rack
i plan to build a simple shelf enclosure to just place the PM in(i dont want to modify the actual casing)
i've seen similar solutions on http://www.marathoncomputer.com/grac.html

but how does the optical drive work when placed on the side?
anybody got any ideas on how to make it work?

Some drives have little tabs to hold the disc there until you can grab it...not sure whether I'd be doing optical drive mods, though, lol

It should work fine, as long as you've got those tabs. You have read this, right?
I did find out that hard drives prefer to be perfectly horizontal or perfectly vertical. I had an old computer with a drive on a slight angle, and the sickening noise it made got my attention right away.
