I have to say just this... I really love the G5 Case it is truely asthetically pleasing to behold...
Knowing MAC stuff is usually sold complete... is it all possible to obtain a G5 case( only)
It would truely make an awesome PC case conversion.
Feel free to wise crack also... we could all use the entertainment

hey dude.
I just bought a G5, and must agree with you as far as the aesthetic value is concerned- she truly is a work of art. Makes all my beige windows case's look like a relic of the 80's.
A mate of mine said a very similar thing to your post; He too was after just the case and he intended on just refitting the case with consumer PC parts- as he loved the external and internal design as a whole- in particular he loved the heat-sinks and alloy exterior.
I looked into it- and unfortunately hit one brick wall after another.. although I didnt try that hard
Apparently Apple don't have their cases up for retail, nor could I find any 3rd party who could sell just the case itself.... sorry tazwegion
btw where abouts in tas u from? Hobart here

"There are beings in the universe billions of years older than either of our races. Once, long ago, they walked among the stars like giants, vast, timeless. Taught the younger races, explored beyond the rim, created great empires, but to all things, there is an end.
Slowly, over a million years, the First Ones went away. Some passed beyond the stars never to return. Some simply disappeared ... Not all of the First Ones have gone away. A few stayed behind, hidden, or asleep, waiting for the day when they may be needed. When the Shadows come again."
Babylon 5's The Shadows 0wn all other SciFi races.
Sorry.

Nah... the Shadows were like 'most evil' of the B5 universe... they own no-one
Sorry to spoil the series for you but the Vorlon's/Membari alliance with the B5/earth crew kicked the substance out of the the Shadows
Not to mention that 'the force' is as old as time... it surrounds us, penetrates us and binds the galaxy together... so the Jedi Knights would wipe the floor with 'the shadows'

Not true.
The Shadows and Vorlons moved beyond the rim of their own free will. The Shadows were never defeated, or even close to it.

So being 'escorted' out beyond the rim by the Vorlon's doesn't constitute defeat?
Having their plans to conquer the known B5 universe... quashed, isn't defeat?
Please do remind me of what really took place then...

Neither the Shadows or the Vorlons won. The Vorlon Alliance was no closer to defeating the Shadows then the Shadows were to defeating the Vorlon Alliance. It was more of a stale mate. And considering that the Vorlons turned on many member worlds of the Alliance, there really was no more alliance.
What happened was that Lorien convinced both the Shadows and the Vorlons that their time had come, that their job of watching over and guiding the younger races was complete and also partially failed.
They both left their home worlds and migrated beyond the rim to join the other first ones, and Lorien went with them, as his time had come as well.

So it's really more like a Mexican stand off?
I still feel that the Shadows leaving the B5 universe, is a Alliance victory... as the Shadows didn't achieve their 'evil goals' and the remaining races were left to sort out their own differences.
Jedi Knights still rule

Hey tazwegion, I hate to be the sig police, but there are some guidelines about the size of your signature. 140x40 pixels or something.
sorry

Oh... Okay, I'll fix that 'sig' issue pronto
I figured that it would've been rejected if it was too big

Step 1: Buy a PowerMac G5 1.6 GHz machine.
Step 2: Gut it.
Step 3: Sell said guts on eBay.
Step 4: Use the case.
Sorry, at the moment the only way to get a G5 case is to buy a full machine.

So the question becomes: how desperate is our PC-using friend? And did that random sci-fi geekiness outburst scare him away?

Apple's cases, motherboards, and power supplies are custom designed to fit the needs of each computer. It'd be very difficult to stick an ATX board in a G5 case. I'm sure someone will design an ATX G5 clone soon enough.

Nah... not me, that is exactly what I had in mind... just not as messy, though I have an angle grinder and I am prepared to use it
Also I wouldn't have given the internals away... dunno' why though

The guy who did that conversion didn't give away any G5 parts, either. Re-read the link.
