My CD-RW Drive in my 466 G4 Tower died on me (spins up, down, up, down, doesnt read in X or 9). I need to take it out and replace it. I noticed though that it is very hard to take out due to a metal cage blocked by the powersupply. Does anyone know of a guide of some sort that could show me how to replace the drive? I've searched google and could not find any type of guide.

Thank you.

you don't pull the drive from the inside, you push it out through the front of the machine.

check this guide out:

Yeah its easy. You just need hex allen-keys: take off the two front handles. Then unplug the CD (and ZIP) and take out the screws. Takes no more than 10 minutes to do the whole thing,

You absolutely do not need to remove the handles.

You release the CD/zip bezel (from the inside), disconnect the drive cables, unscrew the drive carrier, and pull it out.

Slightly off-topic, but what happens when you have two optical drives (cd-rw & dvd-r) and hit the eject key? Is there a way to only eject one drive, i.e. press 1 and eject or so?

If I remember correctly...

Hitting Eject works on the drive that is set to master.
Hitting Option + Eject works on the drive that is set to slave.
