I'm about to receive a slot loading 350Mhz iMac.

Has anyone successfully taken out the 350Mhz logicboard and put in a 400 or 500Mhz one?

Can this be upgraded to a DVD drive? Will it play movies?

No, unless you know how to soldier a CPU on to a motherboard.

Yes, it can be upgraded to a DVD drive.

For any upgrades, visit

Upgrade your G3 iMac to a G4 500 MHz = $300

If you are talking about replacing the mainboard with a faster one, then yes it can be done and it's not all that difficult. However, unless you get hold of Apple Display Adjustment Utility 4.2 and a jumper cable, you wont be able to adjust the display, it will be totally washed out, out of proportions etc.
