Could anyone point me in the right direction for replacing some fans?

The Fan that pushes the heat off the CPU is dying so that one needs to be replaced and thought if I was going to do it I would take them all out and replacement them for a quieter running machine.

The CPU fan seems simple enough to replace. it just detactes and unplugs but I figure I need the right fan at the right voltage. Please feel free to correct me on this assumsion, this will be the first time I will try it.

I found a lot of articles on cooling at xlr8 but they are mainly for the MDD and I don't know if they would apply to the Quicksilver.

Could someone post some links to fans that would work?

There is an extensive test of 120 mm fans at
http://www.materiel.be/refroid/120mmfans_2/page1.php
and the summery at http://www.materiel.be/refroid/120mmfans_2/page24.php

The general rule is that the more cooling the more noise, but not all fans ar created equal for example the Panaflo FBA12G12H cool as well as a Sunnon fan while being 8 dB quiter. The panflo is as quite as the Enermac UC12 FAB and chills 8 degrees more (Celcius that is not F)

The right voltage is 12V but you should try to get a fan that is similar to the original in its ability to pump air. The origianl is made for a worst case scenario, hot room with all HD bays and PCI slots filled. With less than that you can lower the requirements especially if you supplement the fan with other cooling aids like baffles to guide the airflow or PCI slot fans that help the air circulation. I am just experimenting with strapping a very small fan perpenicualr to the heat sink and the idea is to guide the air towards the bottom of the fins were the CPUs are.

There are plenty of better fans that those loud Delta blowers out there
