Does anyone know or have a link to the pinout of the front button/ports cable? I modded a G5 case and threw an Athlon 3000 in it, and now I need to find a pinout of that cable so I can finish wiring everything up. Right now, I'm using a hard drive jumper to turn the computer on...
Thanks!

Pathetic? Don't ever post here again?
That was helpful. Before all the rest of the fanboys attack me, let me set a few things straight.
1. I DID NOT BUY A G5 AND RIP EVERYTHING OUT AND INSTALL A PC IN IT. For starters, I'm not stupid. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a G5 (an awesome machine) and then replace it with a PC. I bought the case off an online store that carries Apple Replacement Parts (for a hefty $200).
2. I'm a Mac guy. I am a Cocoa programmer. I own a Dual 450 Gigabit Model G4. You can have it when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
3. I am a college student. As such, I have an on-campus job doing tech support. For that, I need to have familiarity with BOTH PCs and Macs. I made this computer to increase my Windows knowledge.
4. Another reason for making this computer was so I could make some Medal of Honor maps for my friends and me to play. I wish I could do it on my Mac, but the ability just isn't there.
5. I used a G5 case BECAUSE I'm a Mac guy. I wanted my PC to look as good as my Mac - at least on the outside.
6. I plan on purchasing a real G5 as soon as Apple updates the current line.

Which online store had the case for $200. I have done some searching and haven't found one that cheap yet. Yes, i want to do the same thing since I need a windows PC to run my business (some programs are not available on the mac) and want the windows PC to match my G5. At least then I can put them side by side and not feel bad about it.
Also, do you havwe any pictures? Just curious to see how you mounted the board and such.

I got the case from WeLoveMacs.com. A few months ago, the replacement G5 case (no PSU) was $199+S/H. The price is currently $299.
I bought a motherboard tray for a Lian-Li case and trimmed a small corner of it for the side panel latch. It worked pretty well. I still need to do something to keep it tight against the plastic runners that the power wires are secured to. I think I'll buy some plexi and cut out a trench or something. That would also help keep the tray tight with the top of the case (it tends to sag 1/8" down from the horizontal optical storage "shelf")
Here are some pics:
Back panel after the Dremel got to it:
And at an angle:
With the mobo tray installed:
The pieces that were cut off:
Side view of the almost-finished case:
Side view with the panel off:
Shot of the motherboard:
And the free-floating power supply:
And a view of the back:
The power cable runs in through the hole in the tray where the fan is supposed to go. It then runs along the side of the case and plugs into the front of the PSU.
Any help on getting the front power button and ports wired would be greatly appreciated.

Its no big deal. Personally, I think the G4 case is prettier than the G5 (maybe you'd have switched the G4 into the G5 case and put the AMD into the G4 case otherwise).
And to all those who are still whinging about that old article on overclockers.com about 'that kid who ripped up a G5 to make a PC'.
HE DID NOT RIP OUT THE INNARDS. HE TOO ONLY HAD THE CASE, AND WAS JOKING.
Even PC users aren't stupid enough to replace $3000 worth of Mac with a $300 PC.

Pretty good job. I think I will try to get the power supply to mount there at the bottom in the back but if I cannot i'll try something. I think digging around for a MB and using a smaller heatsink (maybe try liquid cooled to keep it quiet like the G5) might be needed. Don't get me wrong I think you did and excellent job but as any mod that is posted others learn form it and try to improve upon it.

Nice job. What I'd do if I were you is get my hands on a power supply like the one used in the G5 (They do make ATX power supplies in that form factor), and if you really have some time on your hands, whip out a drill and make that blackpane match
Otherwise it's a nice clean mod. I'm sure if anything you could arrange the power supply into that front part of the case sitting on it's back, so to say.. if anything even more doable with a low profile PSU.
I'm not that crazy about the red motherboard either, but hey whatever you like

Agreed, but generally there are enough that offer the same features and quality that there's like at least 3 variations of the same thing.
Then again vendor preference can overrule this. For example almost all MSI boards are red, all Asus boards brown, and all gigabyte boards blue.
*shrug* I knew you'd be the first to try to insult my posts YET AGAIN.

southtdi: I will eventually be making this thing water cooled. I still need to pick up a radiator, a pump, and a reservoir. Hmmm. After doing so, I think the PSU might be able to fit there in the back. I'll look into it...
Link: Yes, I know they make 1U PSUs. I looked into it. The cheapest one I could find that would support the video card I want to also buy was $65. I got this one for $50 with a 3 year warranty. As for the mobo color: I like Abit mobos, and the NF7-S v2.0 is red. I really don't care about the color, though blue would look really cool. The aluminum side panel is always on, anyway. To each his own, I guess.

Water Cooling will be a cool addition plus keep it quiet. With all the room in the case putting everyting for the water cooling in the case shouldn't be a problem. the power supply should fit in back but, as mentioned, you might have to go with a smaller form factor one.
As for MB colors, I really could care less either. I am like you and would just leave the side panel on. I do currently on my G5 and only take it off now and then to show people. BTW, that is a nice board you used.
I was thinking of your switch problem. I don't remember the site but that guy that caused all of the contriversy with the G5 thing in the past may be able to help. Maybe you can find the site and see if you can get in touch wit h him via email. He may have worked out the switch problem already.
