i am looking into upgrading my G4/533 and G4/733 digital audio. i would love two brand new G5s and a powerbook, but money is definitely an issue.

has anyone upgraded from 533 --> 1.4Ghz using OWC or other upgrade cards? what kinda speed boost can i expect?

i use the 733/Mhz DA for final cut pro, cleaner 6, exporting video from quicktime to various formats, and general web browsing, iTunes, ms windows stuff. the 533 generally is used for web browsing, windows apps (nothing really heavy). both machines are decked out with about 1GB ram already.

Yep. I upgraded a dual 533 DA Tower with a single processor 1.4GHz Giga-Designs cpu. The improvement in performance was significant. However, applications that were dual-processor enabled only showed a minor speed boost by comparison. That's normal of course. Since you're upgrading from a 533 single processor you can expect a dramatic increase across the board. Your graphics card may become a limiting factor if you're into computer games though........joe

no, no computer games. i really need more responsiveness in apps like iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Quicktime and Cleaner 6 encoding. sounds like the upgrade will be the best and cheapest way to get there.
