I've been in contact with the dangerous brothers and they have made an RPC-1 firmware for this drive. Model Number HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4082B.

It requires a pc to flash unfourtunately.

If any one wants the files then I have them available but I dont have any place to host them.

ps does anyone know what is involved in making a flasher tool for the mac?

Yes I would be interested in having the RPC1 firmware.

Please mail it to: netscott@G(nospam)Mail.com

Just remove the (nospam) bit.

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for trying to be helpful Macintologist but the address rp1.org doesn't actually go anywhere. You are most likely referring to RPC1 and trying to refer me to the site www.rpc1.org where one can find Xvi's (among others) fine collection of (region free) firmwares for macintoshs and PCs. However this particular firmware that oni mentions doesn't appear to have been added to that site yet for some reason which is why I'm here requesting it.
btw: I'm the Scott referred to in this post: http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?...ghlight=uj-815

Thanks anyways!

Is this the LG drive?

Will this work for other LG Multi-DVD recorders? I've got a GSA-5163B (external).

Thanks.

Could one of the Admins/Mods possibly send a message to oni and request a response to this thread? I've sent a p.m. and tried to send e-mail but got an error message saying the user had turned off e-mail and to try and ask a moderator to send a message.

Thanks!
