Hello Dave, you ever imagine i would crawl away from my work at cubeowner? I figured the amount of info swapped in our e-mails would be a nice thing to share with the rest of the mac world.

Anyways, It would be awesome if we could replicate the flash that i did on my 9700 that i used for a while in my cube. It would be a great card for any mac - its basicly a 9800pro minues 10% speed... but it you can have them for little over $100 on ebay. Nice! The core on mine clocks up to 9800pro speeds (even nicer), though RAM artifacts at anything above 300mhz.

The working one that i have (the only one in existance, i think), works fine in all the machines ive tested it in so far, BUT, i have only tested it in agp2x macs. 3 sawtooths and 1 cube. Its flashed with a reduced 9800rom with the rom device ID changed to that of a 9700.
In the machines that i have tested it in, it has worked exactly the same as a reduced 9800 flash - 100% functionality in osX, stuck resolution and ghost monitor in os9.

Amacapart has attempted to replicate the process on his agp4x quicksilver, but had some significant artifacting. We think it may have something to do with slight voltage differences.

Anyone else out there with access to a 9700 that matches this layout PLEASE give it a shot. I'll link the ROM i used in a few mins.

This would bring core image to any AGP mac for 100$ Lets figure this one out.

here is the rom.

Its clocked very conservatively (277/270). Mine currently runs artifact free at 330/290 - and thats INSIDE the original cube encosure - very little ventalation.

I have a PC Radeon 9700 Pro here I want to flash to use in my DA tower that fits the layout you recommend. I've downloaded your ROM, but have a couple of questions...

1) Where can I find the flash utility?

2) How do I modify the core/memory clock speeds?

Thanks

Do a search for "ATIccelerator"

The Great Thomas Perrier wrote both utilities.

Good luck with 9700 !!!

be sure to keep us posted as to what happens along the way.

I thought i had it nailed down to a voltage issue, but now it looks otherwise.

Maybe I should have said this earlier. I've never flashed a video card, and I need someone to talk me through the process step-by-step. I need to know where to get a flasher, how to set the flasher and rom up on a floppy, and the exact process of flashing the card. Thanks.
