Hi all.

My mdd came with a geforce4mx with a paltry 32mb vram. I later upgraded this with a flashed pc radeon 8500 64mb, which also had the benefit of having a vga port on the card itself (I didn't have to use the dvi->vga adapter that apple had supplied).

A friend recently sent me a mac edition geforce4ti presumably from a quicksilver or mdd. it's got 128mb vram and, from what i hear, is a bit faster than the radeon. Upon booting with the new card, I noticed I was at a resolution of 1280x1024@75hz. I usually use 1600x1200@90hz, so I went to the Displays control panel.

Now, back when I used the radeon and the gf4mx before that, Displays would sometimes recognize my monitor (it had the model and brand name in the title bar, 'NOKIA445PRO') and sometimes not (it just had 'Display') but it never limited my modes. I have not seen 'NOKIA445PRO' in the titlebar of Displays since installing this new card.

Since I couldn't adjust the resolution higher than 1280x1024, I decided to at least up the refresh rate. BAD IDEA! Now, no matter what refresh rate I pick (even 60hz), I am stuck in interlaced mode...which is driving me batty.

I've tried zapping the pram, I've tried looking for updated nvidia drivers. I'm at a loss!

Any clues? I'd love to use this card if possible.

I should mention that I've tried SwitchResX, as well as using Apple's 'overrides' (/System/Library/Displays/Overrides) but have had limited luck (I've been able to finally get rid of interlacing in most of the refresh rates).
