I have an old performa 6360 that I would like to use as a firewire drive case. I understand how to install the bridgeboard and cabling. My only question is, can I use the existing power supply and fan? I don't know how to turn on the power supply without the existing switches which seem to work through the logic board.

jeez thats a big case for just an external hdd why not get a pizza box LC 3 or something for pennies... and its got a hard switch for power on.
if you want to power on the powersupply though, find the two pins that you short to start the powersupply - if you have a pinout for the powersupply its easy... i just looked for one but couldnt find any, you may have more luck, though.

I'm just trying to recycle. I have played around with the pins without success so far. I will probably just go with another cheap case I can pick up somewhere. I am trying to put a backup hard drive and dvr drive in one or two cases.

Surely its easier just to fit an ethernet card?
You can pick these up on ebay for pennies too. That way you can stick an HD and an optical drive in it. Plus, you could set it up in another room and use it to play music or whatever.
You might need to install OS 9 on it in order to use any kind of burner though. And you may also be limited on HD size. Worth looking into though I would think.
