Usually not. Apple's video cards use a different type of firmware than the PC variants. In fact, that's why the only Nvidia cards that work for Macs are directly available form Apple only: their openfirmware tends to be much larger than the PC equivalent. I've been trying to get them to bring "pro" video cards to the Mac for some time now and have gotten to know the issues from the people with Apple itself. Sadly, they cannot even just write a driver for a PC-based card because of the firmware and other issues.
I suggest emailing whomever you can at Apple and googling the topic. There have been a number of petitions for things such as genlock, true stereo support (none of this "blue line" nonsense), and other professional needs on the platform. So far, no good. But hope remains.
