It used to artifact like crazy.... so I took off the heatsink and put on some new thermal compound... no dice.... now it shows the apple logo, then the screen goes blue, and after about 30-45 seconds it turns dark.

No visible damage, and the part of the card underneath the chip runs hotter than all hell.

Your best bet is probably to sell it on eBay and watch the EE geeks compete for it in the hopes that they can fix it.

You'd be surprised how much defective/dead Mac parts fetch on eBay. An aquaintance of mine sold a dead G4 motherboard for around $100 just a few months back.

See it would be funny if my topic had been about a radeon 9800 for my beige g3... but it wasn't. Nice try though, really. Props to you. It was a good attempt.

I think you should mod it into a shiftknob.

This link might help

Let's see...what other useless answers have you given people in recent weeks...?

Depends on how many stupid questions people ask, like "HOW DO I TIMEDEMO QUAKE3!?!", and other dumbshit questions.

Yes, but there are more pleasant ways to respond to requests for help, or there's always the very obvious "keep your trap shut if you have nothing to add" option, and either way, you won't get people being pricks in return. You reap what you sow, that's all.

Uh, no. Sorry, you aren't giving me a taste of my own medicine, etc. Why? I responded to a stupid question with a stupid answer. This is not a stupid question, nor is it a mainstream question that's going to have a quick answer on google. What you are doing is attempting to be a prick.

There's no reason why this should be in the modding forum.

Amen. I'm not going to bother with responding to what he said to me, since it's obvious he doesn't understand what he's doing. Even if you win an online arguement, it's like the special Olympics; you're still retarded.

So the original question, what do you do with it? I'd trash it; I don't have room for non-working junk in my collection.

Not to take sides in Ca$h vs Everyone war, but I see no reason why this shouldn't be in Mac Mod. Getting the thing to work properly will require modification of some sort, if it can be done.

That's what I figured when I posted it here. I'd also like to point out that my situation wasn't some 'easy to answer by typing in the subject line of the thread into google and finding the solution' question, unlike some dumbshits around here.

Why would you even post asking for help here? You do nothing but act like jackass and criticize others, so if you're actually expecting people to help YOU out then you're even stupider than all your posts indicate.
Seems all of your posts are either trying to piss of the mods or trying to start **** with people asking legitimate questions...
When people ask about the release date of Sims 2,
...only people with no social lives play this game? Or... better way to put it: You lack something in your own life so you play the sims?... One time, at best buy, I saw a fat guy with a ponytail buying it. Another time at CompUsa I saw a fat ugly chick buying it.
When someone asks about flashing a Radeon 9800 for their G4,
Sweet dude. I got a titanium shift knob for my ford festiva. It helps quite a bit since it's lower weight!
When someone asks about playing a song in iTunes,
this thread is stupid. Dude.
... and it goes on.
I mean, trolls are a dime a dozen but until you I've never seen one dumb enough to actually expect help after acting like an ass to everyone else. Seriously, why did you post this thread?

Yeah, you're right I never ever post anything remotely helpful.

You know... I could find a bunch of links that prove you wrong, but I honestly don't give a ****.

Oh, I agree...all I'm saying is that if anyone else had asked, I'd be inclined to do some research. It's just the person. yikes600 summed it up nicely.

To get back to the thread topic:

throw it in the trash. It should fit in there fine without any modification.
