In the process of buying and setting up a G5 iMac for a member of the family and having problems with its screen apple sent me out a replacement front panel including the LCD and the white surround (just like looking at the 20" iMac) this was not the problem and once I had a replacement iMac all was fine and I was told to keep or bin the 20" screen (i got them to confirm in writing) so now i want to try and set it up for use with my old G4 . . .and to the question . . .

How can I do that?

It has a number of ribbons hanging out of the LG philips 20" LCD that would connect to the mobo of the iMac and I would need to give it power and an ADC connector. Any suggestions??

if needed I can supply pictures.

Cheers
Tony.

But naturally, I think you should not bother hooking it up to your G4, and instead put a Mac Mini in there
Still, you face the same issues trying to wire the screen up.. So much the same help needed there..
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

What kind of plug is on the end of the ribbon cable? If you got a Mac mini, you could probably use the motherboard and connect the DVI output directly. But hey, what do I know? My guess is you probably can't do anything with it.
Idiot... Slow down

There's a small chance you might be able to cram it into an imac g4.. otherwise I have no idea. Got the model of the LCD itself?

He said its an LG Philips 20" screen, if thats any use.
I saw the picts, and if i remember rightly, there were 3 ribbon type cables coming off the screen. i'd guess 1 powers the backlight, but no clue what exactly the other 2 do, nor what needs to be done to make use of them.
