I know this is a bit early, but it seems that the 9650 that's going into the dual 2.7 is essentially a radeon 9600XT with DDL DVI instead of ADC, and a different TDMS(?) on that side to handle the DDVI port.

In that case, might this card be able to work like the 9600XT and 9600pro in G4s? That'd be incredibly funny, but I suppose the verdict is still out until someone can compare a 9600XT to a 9650, or even go as far as confirming my speculation by actually sticking it in a g4 (with tape mod of course), and giving it a shot!

It probably will work, unless ATI redesigned it onto an AGP Pro PCB. I doubt they would go to the expense, however.

Keep in mind that it is less likely G5 owners are gonna yank that 9650, and even if they do, you will be Ebaying against all the other G5 owners & G4 owners who want to run a 30". With next step up the ladder going for $500, I doubt they'll sell for under $200 for quite some time.

*nod*, even the X800 is a fair bit more expensive than such, so I think you're very much right, either way $200 is better than $700 to get a FireGL x3
