I have a Gigabit G4 that I upgraded with a GD dual 1.4 last year. The problem is the heat output has been sufficient to cause my power supply to fail after a year. So, I'm deciding between trying to mod the original graphite case, which I really like, or moving everything to an ATX case with much better cooling options.

Any suggestions? I'd like to keep Dremel work to a minimum

Back in the day, I put my Dual 1.4GHz upgraded QuickSilver into a very nice Kingwin aluminum case with side window. Aesthetics were great. Cooling was even better.

I had three 80mm fans pushing around 37 CFM per minute. The temperature inside the PC case ran around 85ish whereas the temperature in the QuickSilver case ran around 120.

I screwed up most of the board mounts though. Holding a dremel still while it is spinning fast enough to drill through the aluminum is a little harder than you might think. You might wanna mark and then tap the holes in advance, so you have a mark for the dremel.

Antec P180. Out now RSN (end of this month, beginning of next). Your PSU will have a seperate cooling zone with a 120mm fan blowing on it, you get two exhaust 120mm fans, one 120mm intake fan vent, optional ducting system (not needed anymore, might be removed from the final product), and it should be a quiet case.

What did you do with the front panel (power and reset switches) from the QS? That's the only thing that I see as a significant issue in terms of fitting it into an ATX case.
