I'm thinking my son's iMac G3's Power Analog board has gone out (all i get when I power on is a powerbutton blink and some screen crackle). Instead of going through the procedure (and high-voltage risk) of trying to replace it, I'm thinking of putting the logic board in a custom case powered by an atx psu. I have a 15" widescreen monitor I would like to use, but I am wondering if the iMac G3's internal connector, or external connector, support widescreen resolutions? Probably 1280x768? it's the video card that is responsible for the resolution not the vga female output. I believe it can. I've had my imac run at 1280 x 1024 using SwitchResX. try out your resolution w/ the lcd to see if it works.
