I bought a PowerMac G3/400 without an internal 56k modem.

I have an iMac 333 with an internal modem.

According to this...
http://www.mac-pro.com/s.nl/sc.2/cat...it.A/id.877/.f

...they are the same modem.

Apple 56k Modem for G3 Blue & White and G3 iMac
One Year Warranty. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS- PowerMac Blue and White G3 MiniTower or PowerMac G4 with PCI Graphics. Also work internally in iMac 233, 266, and 333.

Is a modem transplant operation possible?
Thanks

If the connector is the same, they are identical. Swap away until your heart is content.

From my brief run as a mac repair tech I can remember that virtually all macs made in that time era used the exact same modem card connection... the only difference between some of the modems were the angles at which the modem port would face relative to the connection. Some made a 90 degree turn, others didnt.

Even if they turn out to have different orientation (that link doesnt make it sound like it), it would be relatively simple to make an extension.
