So...
About a year ago I decided that my 500MHz dual-USB iBook just wasn't cutting it anymore. So I bought a 30GB hard drive and more RAM for it. Then I bought a 700Mz logic board (16MB VRAM). Then a 900MHz G3 board. Then I bought a 500MHz iBook whose board had fried. Then I bought a bunch of case parts.
When it was all said and done, I had a whole tub full of iBook parts and a $700 hole in my Paypal account.
Anyway, I tried to put the 700MHz board in one of the cases, to no avail. Same with the 900MHz board, even though I was assured by the sellers that both boards worked great. So then I tried my old 500MHz board. It didn't work anymore either.
Great, I thought, I've destroyed any chance of having even a semblance of a working laptop now. Jeez.
So that stuff has been sitting untouched for about six months now, and I'm getting the itch to play with it again. I'd like to take the case parts away and just make sure I have a functioning computer, then build a custom case for it for use as a decorative desktop machine. I figure I'll use it as a file and music server.
So the point is I'm going to try to build a computer from these pieces. Anybody have any advice on which parts might be most likely to form a working machine? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Should I just sell all this stuff and buy a new computer?
