would it be possible to swap the original motherboard in my blue & white with one from a G4?

is there certain versions of the G4 you have to stick to? would it work with the psu?

any ideas?

It wouldn't be a straight plug and play switch. The standoffs on the G4 board are in different places to the G3 board, and you'd either have to break out the dremel or remove the back plate entirely, as the ports are differently placed for each model. You'd be better served trying to source the appropriate model G4 power supply than use the one in the B/W.
All opinions are entirely those of my employer. It's not my fault.

the easiest swap would be the Yikes G4, which is practically identical to the B&W except for a few minor changes. The next up would be the Sawtooth, but as noted by capuchin, you would need to do some dremeling work among other things....

Just remember, the further up the G4 line you get, the further away from the B&W design you get as far as mobo layout, backplane changes ect
