I have a G4 AGP with 500mhz single processor. Is it possible to install a CPU board such as dual 876Mhz/ 1Ghz MDD?. My mac is compatible with dual processors but is 100Mhz bus speed as opposed to the MDD 133Mhz. If possible, would i have to ensure 133Mhz RAM chips? Change bus speed?

SHort of some very risky & creative soldering, I dont think you can change the G4's bus speeds
And I doubt that the cards are pin-compatible anyways, since they use different versions of the G4 chips

The daughtercard interface of the G4 family of cards never changed. That was the whole reason behind going with the daughtercard interface in the first place; To circumvent pin changes over generations of G4 chips.
That said, simply 'fitting' isn't enough for the card to work. MDD daughtercards will only work in MDDs, because of the DDR architecture.
You can, however, use Digital Audio or QuickSilver daughtercards in a 100MHz machine, but you will need to change the bus multiplier with a soldering iron to achieve the proper clock speed.

Technically, the cards will work. However, it won't fit because size of the daul 867MHz and dual 1GHz cards. You will find that if you try, the AGP and PCI card slots will be in the way and will prevent you from installing the cards.
If you do manage to get it to fit and you don't change your bus speeds (and I don't suggest you do because the the model you have didn't take to bus speed upgrades very well), it will just run at a lower MHz.
So, technically, it would work, but, no, it won't fit....

Thanx for replies, i think it would be too abitious for me to attempt if it potentially wouldnt even fit.
I have seen a Quicksilver 867 single processor available. would this fit and work successfully?.
As i have 100Mhz bus speed, would i actually end up with a system that is markably improved from my 500Mhz for all the trouble?.
ie. is it worth purchasing or waiting for a higher speed processor. i need something workable for pro audio and design, ie cubase sx, vsti's and photoshop.

Digital Audio and Quicksilver CPU modules can be made to fit but you'd have to do some serious modification to remove an IDE connector because the CPU modules are physically wider.
It'd be much easier to look in to offerings from Sonnet, Giga Designs, Powerlogix, or Otherworld Computing.
