Is it possible to overclock my 16mb ATI card in my quicksilver? I'll be buying a new card in the next month or so, but I was hoping to be able to get WC3 to not bottleneck until then. I'm running 10.2.8 with 448mb of RAM. Later today or tomorrow it will be 572 mb.

It's possible, but I don't think you can do it enough to make a meaningful difference when you're so far behind the curve.

It's was worth the question at least. I'll see about picking new card up next week.

If you're going to replace it anyway, you may as well try and overclock it.
ATIccelerator is what you need. They may have renamed it Graphiccelerator now I think of it, since it now does nVidia cards too. The instructions are good and its not tough to do. You can think about adding a bigger heatsink and/or a fan to get it up as high as possible.

I have a PB G4 15in HR, I have overclocked the GPU to 490.5 MHz (+10.10%) and the memory to 270.0 MHz (+12.15%). I keep it cool on my Targus notebook cooler, are the settings too high? Should I be concerened of the heat?

You can get software to monitor temperature. Newer Macs have temp sensors everywhere. Don't know if your GPU will have one though. The CPU and HD temp will give you an idea of the general conditions inside the enclosure though.

If you have run it for a couple of hours straight without crashes or issues (or burning your fingers), you're probably OK. Might want to watch it as the weather starts to get warmer, but otherwise...
