Okay... I want one. But I'm not paying their prices. They obviously just took a laptop drive and are reselling it as compatible, they didn't even make a faceplate for it to help it blend into the front of the iMac. Does anybody know what drive this is? I'm assuming it's just like a 'combo' drive from some older iBooks, it can burn CDs, and read DVDs. That said anybody have a part number on these drives? I'd like to put one in my original imac.

You could probably use any number of better, cheaper drives. I just persuaded a Pioneer DVR K-05 to run in a slot load G3 iMac.

All you need is an Y adapter for the power supply since the imacs don't have a second power adapter for the cd drive. It doesn't need it ...
