There's gotta be a way to make the new MacBook keyboard backlit...

Just took a look at one in the local store. It seems to have more of a space between the keys and case than prior notebook models. I know there may be issue with the heat not being able to dissipate, but there's gotta be something that will work. Anyone heard of this (on the new MacBook)?

I'm sure you could... but why? Lighting the space between the keys will actually make the keys even harder to read, since the actual characters on the keys will not be lighted and just appear darker in contrast to the lighted key edges.

eh maybe, or maybe not. I really do miss the lighted keys on my MacBook (I had an AIBook previously) as I am not very good at typing. I find myself having to bend the screen down often (to cast light on the keyboard) to find the keys I need.

Rather than voiding your warranty and messing up your keyboard, consider options like laptop lights that mount on the top of your screen and typing classes. The only other option you really have to light this up would be to solder LEDs under the keyboard which may or may not put out enough light.

I found something interesting last night...if you hit the F6 num lock key (which turns on a green light) it appears the the white letters are somewhat transparent which allows the light to pass through!

This whole thing is a bad idea. Just learn to type. Backlit MacBook keyboards are _never_ going to happen.

While I would have said it nicer... I agree. Just learn to type, and you will save yourself hours/days in your life.
Thanks you 8th grade typing teacher!
