As an owner of an aging PowerBook G4, I'm interested in the new MacBook line for numerous reasons (including the ability to boot into Windows should the need arise). However, I simply can't stand the glossy screens that Apple chose to ship with them. I saw the earlier post about swapping a Pismo LCD and trading up to a glossy screen, and I want to do the opposite to a new MacBook.
I'm not here to argue the pros and cons of glossy versus matte. I'd just like to know if anyone's disassembled a MacBook yet and what the make and model of the glossy screen are. I've found that most manufacturers offer both versions of the LCDs they produce, and swapping them should be just a matter of opening the display shell and exchanging panels.

There is a company based in Houston, TX that will change matte screens to glossy and vice versa i think. They only charge $100 so if you're afraid of opening your new MacBook this might be a good option.
I saw someone do a review on notebookreview.com on their experience and quality of the companies work. They were also featured in PC Magazine so I trust that they are legit to mail into if you're nowhere near Houston. I can't remember the name nor can I find a link to their website. If you're interested, I'll keep looking and post it when I find it again.

If you want a matte Macbook then try a LCD screen protector film, has to be worth spending $10-20 to try it out before spending $$$ on changing a screen.

Regardless of your hatred for glossy screens I would go ahead and try it out first before performing a ridiculous operation on your MacBook that would make it as expensive as a MacBook Pro which you should have ended up buying for the Matte screen in this case.
