My cousin wants me to upgrade his old powerbook and I can do anything to it, except destroy it. So I was planning to overclock it from 400MHz to 500MHz. I have the guide to do it and I have everything to do it. My question is, can I just make a solder bridge with lead instad of moving the resister. I had experience with moving the resister from overclocking my Lombard...that wasn't pretty. Will this be stable?

I would follow the directions exactly. It might work without the resistor at some weird frequency, but it might just get cooked. Screw the soldering, ship it in for an upgrade.
