Is this possible? at first i thought it might be, then i learned that coreduo 2 is 64 bit.

It is possible. Someone did it with a developer issued chip. Just dropped it straight in.

I think you should be able to do it with a Core 2 Duo mobile. I doubt the mini has an LGA775 socket.

Conroe - No

Merom - Yes (ie. the laptop flavor of Core Duo 2)
