I'm looking to upgrade my G3 B&W Power Mac and saw this. Is that a G3 or G4?

Edit: NVM, it said G4 in the description.

It is a G4, however, I would recommend you find a 1.1GHz G3 upgrade rather than this one - this upgrade will clock the frontside bus of your machine down by 33%. So, unless you really need Altivec, go for a G3.

Really? Where does it say that? I might need to use some apps that require a G4, but of course, I have my powerbook. So you're suggesting this one?

edit: oh I see, on everymac it says the 1.1 G3 has a 1.1GHz backside bus and the 1.0 G4 has a 250MHz backside bus. I've gotta think about this before I buy.

@Velocity211,

This article (PowerForce G3/1.1GHz with 1MB L2 for all Power... (PFZ1100) at OWC) is what Mister Elf was talking about. Even though it's talking about a PL chip, the G4 600MHz bus speed reduction principle is still in effect.

There are also benchmarks there as well.
Gee, I hope they're friendly..........
