Hi, I just got a Cube and was wondering what the fastest OEM card is for it. I'm looking for one of the cards that Apple released for the Cube with an ADC connector. No fancy new Radeon 9200's. As far as I can tell, the original Cube cards were Rage128's, Radeons, and GeForce 2's. Anything I missed? Which one is the fastest?

The GeForce 3 is the fastest OEM card that will work in the Cube, and it does have ADC.
The Retail Radeon 9000 Pro can be made to fit but it takes a little work.

Was that GeForce3 fanless?

If you are not limited to OEM cards, the fastest to date are a Radeon 9800 or a Gforce 6200. Warning, flashing required to get a card version that will fit in the Cube. Other mods required, like tapping power off the HD connector.

Cramming a lot into a cube will maket it loud or hot. And even with a 2 GHz G4 and ATI 9800 it is now at the lowest end of many new games.

If you get a GeForce 2 MX online, it will likely be a pull from a Power Mac. Yes, it fits in the Cube, but it doesn't have the same heatsink. The problem is that a fanless GeForce 2 MX runs fairly hot. They tend to die off with time when used in a Cube.
As for the GeForce 6200, it's supposedly to be cooler than the GeForce 2 MX, but at least one guy has fried his GeForce 6200 simply by leaving his 3D screensaver on overnight. Another guy is having sleep problems, but most people seem to be OK with it. Unfortunately, it only works with 10.4.3 or later (if that matters to you).
I'm waiting for a 9200. Hope my source comes through... We'll see how that goes, but it doesn't support the stock bracket.
BTW, OEM Radeons supposedly run a bit cooler than the GeForce 2 MX, and they are fairly cheap. The GeForce 3 is basically impossible to find.
