Is it even worth it? The Harmoni G3-600 + FW400 is going for around $300, and maxing it out RAM-wise is only another two hundred, but by that point, it's almost a mini. is there any point? I've got 256MB in the machine as it stands. I've also a FW DVD burner that I'd considered using; would just the Harmoni be worth it? What other options are there, if any?

Thanks in advance!
If engineers ruled the world, the trains might not run on time, but they'd go really fast, and when they derailed, would explode and kill thousands!

G3... i really think it depends on what you'll be using it for. A G3 at that speed should suit your needs if you are just casually browsing the web and posting on forums and stuff.

However if you really plan to do a whole lot more, like media authoring/editing, games, if you need to run the latest programs or even future INTEL-native programs, or even if you want to experience all the eye candy that iTunes offers, then clearly, you'd be much better off getting a new Mac. It's also a safe bet that browsing the web on that machine 3-4 years from now will be a major drag...considering how complex webpage programming has become. My G3 480Mhz has real trouble in rendering webpages that have CSS (cascading stylesheets).....usually takes 20seconds to a minute on a large page......PER page.

Don't bully me, I got an Uzi... HOO-HAH!

the best option as i see it is to get a 600mhz imac with a 40gig hard drive off of ebay for around $150.00. sell or give away the one you've got.
imac g3 600
imac g4 800 superdrive

yah, I guess it is totally worthless. I was holding on for the nifty factor of ancient hardware, but this thing's just plain not fast enough. Hell, it's what, something like a hundred times slower than a Mac Pro? blech.
