Hello. I work for a company that provides laser etching of any picture (raster or vector) onto an anondized aluminum surface. I'm coming to you, Mac users, to gauge interest in getting a "tattoo" of sorts on the top of your cases. Cost would be around $75. Do you think this is something users may be interested in? Not selling anything, just trying to get reactions to the idea.

Thanks

I'd probably be up for it on the top lid to give it that extra customisation. Probably an image or so, makes theft less likely and more easy to find it again if people are keeping an eye out for it.

I'd go for something like this if you became an actual reseller like Colorware does. I don't necessarily like the idea of sending in a computer I already "own". I'd rather you buy it, customize it there, then ship it to me.

No reason you can't do it through Apple service providers. That way they can fit the parts for you (and supply them in the first place).

I think that looks bad as hell. If I had an aluminum Mac i would definitely get that done.

Someone could just send you the panel that come off, right? I wouldn't mind having an open computer for a little while,, while it is getting that done. Shipping the whole thing in would make me leary. I have had headcrashes resulting from lanparty transportation. Also, i would be able to use the computer.

I don't think that this si spam. Spammers usually use broken english and a link. The post count is one though. I'd call it fishy, but not spam. This is alot more focus groupy. I didn't know tha this existed.

While it may not be spam, it is in fact an overpriced service.

I'm a seasoned case modder/builder and etching or engraving of any sort tends to be in the $35-50 range. Metal or plastic, it does not matter. Technically if a few people did it at once (with some local engraver) they would probably combine the setup fee and distribute it between all of them so everyone saves.

At least that's how I've engraved people's lappys in the past.

That's my .02

And, hi everyone, first post

Lol, yah, sometimes I forget that some expressions don't come across very well in text.
