Is it possible to swap out a CCFL display for a LED display in a 15" MacBook Pro? I'm considering doing this when 15" LED WUXGA (1920x1200) panels become available if it is possible. The LED screens are lighter since they don't require an inverter and the WUXGA screen has ~2x the pixels of my current screen (WXGA+ 1440x900).

Two main hurdles:

(1) Making the cables work. If either the LCD end or the motherboard end of the data cable are different, you're probably screwed.

(2) Making OS X realize you have a higher-resolution display installed. Since Intel Macs don't use Open Firmware, I can't help you with that one.

Check out the link on my sig image for how we did it in a clamshell iBook, but again...that was with OF. Different story.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...
