I was wondering if anyone has seen a mod where you utilize the screen from the imac g4's that had the screen on the post. my idea is looking into using it as a built in scrren on a dest, literaly mount the post to the desk, or a raised block for moveability. i'm pretty much looking to wire a vga or dvi port on the end of the cable. if i need to clear this up please let me know cause i think i'm confusing myself trying to explain what i'm trying to do. Thanks in advance for any replys

It doesn't sound like it's very possible:

Internal LCDs use a different standard (LVDS) than regular LCD monitors (DVI and/or VGA, aka RGB). Converting the signal between the two standards is nearly impossible.

You'd be better off fitting a regular LCD inside the iMac LCD enclosure and figuring out how to put the LCD's circuit board somewhere at the base, with a DVI cable running off that.
