Not sure of anyone has done this or if someone could point me in the right direction.

I know it is possible to remove the Superdrive in the mAcbook Pro and place another HD in there or maybe just a SSD.

But... is it possible to add a sim card to the mix? I work a lot from the field and it would be handy to have my sim card for data transfers / mobile broadband in the laptop. I am not sure if this can be done, but it would be much easier. Would it tie up one of the USB ports that would normally be used for the USB dongle?

Yes, there are a couple kits to mount a hard drive in the optical bay.

There's no room for an internal WWAN card/antenna AFAIK.
