Just wanted to pass this along. I have a QPS Que! FireDrive 4x4x24 drive that went flakey on me (actually both it and my iMacDV's FireWire ports bit the dust).

I purchased an internal QPS IDE 16x10x40 and popped it into the QPS FireWire enclosure and it works great! Must be the QPS "carma".

It ROCKS I did an Audio CD copy at 16X and it finished in just a tad under 5 minutes - that's FAST! Some other CD's I burned (disc's rated at 12x) have burned at 16x just fine!

Toast Titanium reports the drive as a Yamaha CRW2100E but oddly enough I tried an actual Yamaha CRW2100E and it didn't work in the FireWire enclosure that is.

The Yamaha did work inside my G3 and I was even able to boot from it but Toast wasn't able to burn at anything higher than 6x.

That's pretty weird because PC Connection listed the Yamaha as being Mac/PC but the QUE internal drive was listed as PC Only.

Go figure...

One side note - the drive sounds like a high-speed turbine engine.

I have the 12x and have burned about a hundred disks rated at 2x at 12x just fine (the disks are the same the companys just try to get more money for the higher rated ones!)

Sorry to resurect this old topic!

I want to do exactly this. But only if it works in OS X. Can you please confirm or deny whether this contraption is usable with Toast, Discburner (blech) and/or iToons in OS X?

Thanks!
