Nobody can predict the future, but I have an old 8500/120 with a 400 G3 OC'd to 450 that is still a very productive Mac. I expect to be able to keep my Dual 500 that is OC'd to 550 on the bleeding edge for a year or two and productive another year or two after that. The new G4's have a lot of good features.

Maybe this is just too soon to ask, but can I overclock my dual533 G4? Its performing so well, I never thought about whether they have jumpers that I could move to overclock it a bit?!?!

Anyone know where to find info on OCing the new macs?

Overclocking the newer G4s isn't a matter of jumpers anymore. It requires soldering and removing resisters.

However, hopefully this will change. A company called Xtreme (although under heavy suspicion) promises up to 1.2GHz via a refrigeration system. I have my doubts as they promised this LAST year. I guess we'll see.

Amazing how Xtrem has stayed in the news. Undoubtedly the 1.2 GHz Mac is a publicity stunt to get more customers for their ridiculously overpriced bus multiplier jumper set. They MIGHT build one of these things and make it work, but will NEVER ship any quantity.

Keep an eye on www.xlr8yourmac.com for any overclocking info.
