I wanna overclock my iMac DV 400Mhz (blueberry). I have seen the website detailing how to solder the tiny resistors. This is not what bothers me, though. I want to know how high it is safe to go. I am thikning 500Mhz would be a reasonable limit. Could I up it to 600Mhz (as in the new iMacs which as far as I can see use the same motherboard design) or would I need to add some sort of cooling device (like a fan)?

jam, there is no definite answer to your question, it depends your processor. Some processors will overclock higher than others, while some may not OC at all. My guess is that 500 would probably be an upper limit, but trial and error is the only way to find out for sure. 600 would be EXTREMELY unlikely, but not impossible.

yeah 500 is possible........600 is pushing it.

but i ask...is it worth it for only 100 more Mhz? is it worth the chance of f*cking up your motherboard only for 100 more Mhz?

all to often i find myself saying no, its not worth it...

jam, where is this site which describes how to solder those damn tiny resistors. why couldn't apple just use switches like the rest of the world? (retorical question: cause they don't like people to mess with their own machines)
