Trivia for all the Cube owners out there... what are the dimensions and Manufacturer of the built-in slot-loading DVD drive in the Cube?

I have seen a few slot-loading and DVD/CDRW drives coming to market and i wonder if there's enough room in that like tissue box to fit a 3rd party CDRW drive.

Waiting another 3 months for a Cube update just ain't my cup of tea.

Any takers?

Where have you seen those drives.. I am interested. I can then finally replace my external ide cdrw drive in my imac (see the thread by footprints). Can you post some links? I am pretty sure the cube and imac use the same size drive.

I don't have a cube, but if you get the dimensions for it, you could try comparing those with the drives macsales.com has.

The cube have room for a fullsized dvd/cd-rw unit in it. the dvd used today is only taking up half the height of the space in there!

the problem i see is that there seems hard to find a dvd/cd-rw with slot-in on the openmarket, all i have seen is specifically for oem only, but perhaps some of you have a tips where to find one?

question for you, where are you going to find drivers for the drive? I don't think that many companys will make mac drivers.

You can try Toast CD Reader or CD-ROM TooKit. Both have drivers that may or may not support your drive.
