Will I be able to run my iBook with the LCD screen oh say about 6 feet away?

I plan on separating my screen, extending the connecting cable and reconnecting it.

Will it work?

:-)

Have you ever looked at one of those ribbon cables? I hope you're pretty handy with a soldering iron

The only problem I could see is insufficient signal strength, resulting in poor image quality.

WHY

Why not just get a nice long usb cable and run your mouse and keyboard from 6 feet away. Then you can use the base of the ibook to stop the screen from falling over

Do you really need the full screen up at the front of the car? There's a guy who did this trick with his powerbook, but instead of cutting apart the powerbook, he used a docking station (there is one for the ibook) and ran a smaller LCD and button control panel up at the dash, so he could play mp3s, and pull the powerbook at his destination.
